Glaucoma – Study and Treatment

Glaucoma is a serious disease that causes
progressive, irreversible vision loss.

The dangerous thing about glaucoma is that this damage occurs so gradually that the patient adapts to the changes and does not perceive the problem until the damage is particularly large.

For this reason, ophthalmologists recommend an annual preventive eye examination, especially after the age of 40.

Our goal in cases of glaucoma is to reduce the intraocular pressure below a certain limit, separately for each patient.

To decide the limit, tests such as endoscopy, gonioscopy, OCT, and visual field should be performed.

The most important part of glaucoma monitoring is visual field testing, as this is what really tells us how well a person with glaucoma's vision is working.

In our practice, the ability to check the visual field is provided with the latest Humphrey machine from Zeiss, a company with the largest database for the analysis of visual fields.

A larger database practically means greater reliability, thus greater confidence in the results of the machine.

Furthermore, for the analysis of the anatomical data needed for pressure delineation, the possibility of OCT control is provided with the Optovue machine, a company with the largest database in the analysis of OCT results.
