Secondary Cataract

A large percentage of patients who have undergone cataract surgery will develop a secondary cataract.

This can happen weeks, months or years after cataract surgery and does not reflect the quality of the surgery.

Secondary cataract occurs because when we operate on the cataract we leave intact the back of the pocket that holds the artificial lens in place. This pocket, over time, becomes cloudy. This condition is corrected with an operation called capsulotomy using the yag laser.

In our clinic we have equipped ourselves with the most modern machine of the Zeiss company in order to treat this condition in a really reliable way.

After applying the treatment the secondary cataract does not reappear ever again.
